Principal's Message
Mrs Claire Janes
Welcome Back to Orewa Primary School.
Our term has started well with 373 students enrolled at Orewa Primary School. We've welcomed several new families to our school and we hope that everyone is feeling safe, happy and ready to take on the learning journey this term.
During our teacher only day, our teachers were introduced to E Tū Tangata, which means Stand Together. This is a program that breaks down the barriers of 'Tall Poppy Syndrome'. Our staff and students will be embarking on a journey of raising each other up this year with the three guiding principles of:
1. You are Valued
2. We Succeed Together
3. Others Matter
The guiding principles of this program are reminders and actions that we want our students and families to uphold every day. This fits perfectly with our motto and vision and embraces our values of manaakitanga: respect and care. This term we are beginning the learning journey with "You are Valued". In addition, we have also begun our Life Education Program that reinforces healthy relationships. Please talk to your child about what they are learning and how they can promote happy, healthy relationships and showing value to themselves and others.
The week ahead is looking busy for families visiting Orewa Primary School. On Tuesday evening, we welcome you to our information evening. On Wednesday evening, we welcome you to join us for our PTA meeting in the staffroom. On Friday, we welcome new families to our Pōwhiri. We shall look forward to connecting with many of you over the coming days.
Our school policies are open for review and we ask that you take a look at our policies and procedures on School Docs, which can be found here on our website. You can select 'Current Review' to read and make comments.
Thank you to all of the parents/families and whānau that have managed to gather their sponsorship for their House shirts. It would be wonderful to see as many as possible wearing their T-shirts for our upcoming Athletics Days. If you have yet to get this organised, this fundraiser will still be available after Athletics Day.
Enjoy the rest of the week, and please remember to download the HERO app for up to date communications and visit our website for news and updates.
